From Sunday, May 12, through Friday, May 23, UNT hosts the next annual National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation's (NABEF) Media Sales Institute (MSI). Presented by the Center for Spanish Language Media, this is an intense 10-day immersion in electronic media advertising sales and sales techniques. The workshop is open to students who graduated in the summer or fall of 2012, or those who will graduate at any point during 2013 with media, business, or communication degrees.
If you are interested, you must apply by Friday, March 1. Click here for an application.
This advertising sales bootcamp features instructors drawn from the UNT faculty and Dallas-Fort Worth media experts, plus special guests who are UNT alumni. MSI participants make individual presentations and complete group projects during the learning event. In addition to some hard work, there is time for networking dinners, playing golf, enjoying fun things in Denton, and a graduation ceremony (you get a certificate from the NABEF and UNT).
There will also be job interviews. Representatives from participating companies choose whom to interview and you get the chance to interview with several recruiters at the same time.
Cool part -- if accepted, your tuition, room, and board are provided (you get to stay in single-occupancy dorm rooms). Your materials are included, but you have to provide your own transportation to and from Denton and you are encouraged to bring a laptop computer.
