Originally from California, Flowers moved to Texas in 1997 and subsequently attended and graduated from UNT in 2003. She returned to UNT in May 2006 to work in the Registrar's Office.

Flowers made the transition to academic advising for the College of Arts and Sciences in January 2009. She has advised students with majors in Communication Studies; Converged Broadcast Media; Dance; Mathematics; Media Arts (formerly Radio, Television and Film); Political Science; Professional and Technical Communication; and Theatre.
