Award Winning Faculty

Faculty members include internationally recognized scholars; media professionals with backgrounds in film production, news, broadcasting and social media; and award-winning documentary and narrative filmmakers. Their books are used in university courses throughout the world. Other accomplishments include:

We're an institutional member of the Broadcast Education Association, Texas Association of Broadcast Educators and the University Film and Video Association. These organizations provide our faculty members additional perspectives on current issues and topics.

Media Arts Department's Missions Statement 

The Department of Media Arts provides a diverse yet integrated liberal arts learning environment to prepare students for careers as informed media consumers and practitioners. Our mission seeks to lay foundations for professional and academic careers as media producers, managers, programmers, researchers and scholars. Our department provides students with rigorous academic experiences in critical writing, thinking, and understanding as it applies to media industries, production and culture. Central to the department is the commitment to nurture imagination, spark creativity, and cultivate strategic thinking and artistic expression for an ever-expanding and diverse population. Our mission seeks to promote excellence in higher education while providing opportunities for students in artistic, commercial and scholarly venues.

Touring the Media Arts Department

We'll be glad to schedule a tour for you. The Department tours are offered only Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. We do not offer tours when school is not in session.

Send an email to mediaarts-tours@unt.edu. Include what days and times you have in mind to visit the department. Please include three times that will work for you during the day that you plan to visit and how many students you would like to bring with you.
