Eric Nadel Excellence in Sports Broadcasting Scholarship

The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation and Eric Nadel have established a two-year scholarship to provide scholarship support for Media Arts and Mayborn School of Journalism majors; one applicant will be chosen from each department to receive this scholarship award.

Description, Requirements, and Other Information:

FOR CONTINUING STUDENTS

  • Applicants must meet minimum entrance and continuing academic performance standards of the University.
  • Applicants must maintain full-time enrollment at UNT, unless they have fewer than twice the number of semester hours required to be full-time remaining in their degree program.
  • Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students majoring in journalism or media arts.
  • Applicants must be classified academically as either a junior by the end of the semester in which they apply or a senior.
  • Applicants must provide a recommendation/endorsement from a college level professor regarding the applicant's aptitude for the field of sports media. Professors can click here to provide a recommendation. Student and Professor will receive a confirmation email once the recommendation is submitted.
  • Applicants must submit an essay of no more than 500 words explaining their motivation to pursue their education and future career in sports media and how this scholarship would help.
  • Applicants, if selected, must be willing to meet with a Texas Rangers representative and potentially attend selected Texas Rangers media related events.
  • Preference will be given to an applicant who has spent at least some of their academic career enrolled at a community college.

FOR INCOMING STUDENTS

  • Applicants must meet minimum entrance and continuing academic performance standards of the University.
  • Applicants must enroll as a new transfer student in either the Mayborn School of Journalism or in Media Arts as full-time students majoring in journalism or media arts.
  • Applicants must maintain full-time enrollment at UNT, unless they have fewer than twice the number of semester hours required to be full-time remaining in their degree program.
  • Applicants must be classified academically as either a junior by the end of the semester in which they apply or a senior.
