As a professional videographer and editor, James Martin has worked in a variety of production environments including news, commercial, and corporate production. His production work history also includes stints as a news producer, technical director, and production manager.

After moving into the educational field, he served as a video production instructor and video operations manager for Lindenwood University. In that time he produced numerous community and student oriented programs. He also produced and directed sports, performing arts, and special events programming. Martin has also taught courses in studio and field production as well as advanced production workshops.

Prior to arriving at the University of North Texas, Martin served as a digital post production support specialist with an emphasis in solid state media workflows and video acquisition using high definition digital video cameras. He continues to write and direct high definition short films and is developing an online comedy series. Courses taught: Introduction to Radio, Television and Film Production; Introduction to Radio, Television and Film Writing; Introduction to Radio, Television and Film; Audio Visual Editing; Video Production; Corporate Media; and Theories and Techniques of Visual Editing; and Intermediate Screenwriting.
