RTVF students, professors win international awards

Students and faculty members of UNT's Department of Radio, Television and Film made a strong showing in the 2011 Festival of Media Arts Awards. The international honors are handed out by the Broadcast Education Association (BEA), a professional group for professors, industry professionals, and graduate students involved in the electronic media and multimedia enterprises.

Here is a list of this year's RTVF honorees:

FACULTY DOCUMENTARY COMPETITION
* Best of Festival: Professor Eugene Martin, The Anderson Monarchs (Long Form)
* Technical Award of Excellence in Cinematography: Professor Melinda Levin, River Planet

STUDENT VIDEO COMPETITION
Instructional/Educational
* 2nd Place: Green Machine Production Unit, One Dollar Wiser: "Debt Investigators" (Professor Jason Balas' special problems class)
* 3rd Place: Coralee Trigger, North Texas Now: "Fright Fest" (ntTV)

STUDENT SCRIPTWRITING
Feature (90-120 pages)
* Honorable Mention: Dillon Swingle, Hold On

RADIO NEWSCAST
* Honorable Mention: Matt Czizek, KNTU, The Late Edition

TELEVISION HARD NEWS REPORTING
* Honorable Mention: Matthew Torres, ntTV, "Occupy Dallas"

The awards will be presented April 16 in Las Vegas, during the BEA's annual convention.
