Mark Dobson has been involved with the UNT Department of Media Arts in one way or another since he transferred to the university as an undergraduate in 1999. He worked as a volunteer and later as a student staff member at ntTV, the campus' student-run cable television station from 1999-2001. He also worked briefly as a DJ at KNTU, UNT's radio station, before graduation.
His first job out of college was working as the Video Technician/Producer for DTV, the City of Denton's government access station. While there, he earned numerous awards in state and national competitions for his video productions. All the while, Dobson made a point to keep in touch with those at UNT who had been instrumental in his professional development. That paid off in the summer of 2005, when a position opened up in the Media Arts department.
In addition to being the Postproduction Lab Manager for the Department of Media Arts, Dobson also freelances as a videographer/editor for 1st Take Video, the company he formed in spring 2005. He earned his BA in Radio, Television and Film from the University of North Texas in 2001 and is currently working on his Master of Fine Arts degree.
